In Psalm 73 the psalmist returns to the problem which troubled David in Psalm 37 and which puzzled the anonymous author of Psalm 49. It is the age long problem of the seeming prosperity of the wicked and the equally perplexing and parallel problem of the suffering of the godly. Here it is finally resolved.

Lesson Title: Peter's
Vision (10:9-16)
He saw a large vessel or container like a large sheet
descending from heaven held by its four corners. Some interpreters suggest a
symbolic meaning here, the four corners representing the four corners of the
earth in a vision, the ultimate meaning of which points to the worldwide
mission in which all men are fit for salvation.

Today’s Lesson: The Need of the Whole World.
I am debtor. Paul views himself as a
debtor to the whole world. He has been placed in debt by the love of Jesus
Christ. “For the love of Christ compels
us…” (II Cor. 5:14). Paul’s concept of Christian service is that each
believer is deeply in debt. It is probably this same concept that inspired
Isaac Watts to pen the words of the hymn “At the Cross” when he said, “But
drops of grief can ne’er repay the debt of love I owe. Here, Lord, I give
myself away, ’tis all that I can do.” Paul felt he had a responsibility to give
nothing less than himself to the spreading of the gospel by which he was saved.

“Jacob” had one more funeral to attend—when “Jacob” was bereaved of “his

and had left a lonely marker on the way that led to Bethlehem. His old nurse was dead, his beloved Rachael
was dead, Dinah was nursing her heartache and shame, Levi and Simeon were still

Reuben had acted worse than a pagan. So
nursing his many hurts “Jacob came” at last to “Isaac,”

Excerpt: It
is impossible for an unconverted person to manifest this divine love. In fact,
it is impossible even for a believer to demonstrate it in his own strength. It
can only be exhibited by the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit. Love found
its perfect expression on earth in the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ. Our
love for God manifests itself in obedience to His commandments.
